GABBY - We set off into town soon after breakfast with Steve to do
some errands. Steve wanted to go into
Underberg to pay off some of his debts, of which he had many. Ben and I did the grocery shopping for the
backpackers, hit up the post office and stationary store and waited for Steve
in the Trendy Bean. The Trendy Bean is
the other coffee shop, besides The Grind, that has Wi-Fi with purchase of any
food or drink from the café. We were
able to post pictures to Facebook, update our blog, and catch up on some of
what was going on back in the States. We
ended up waiting in the coffee shop for 3 hours waiting for Steve before Ben
asked to borrow their phone and see where he was. He said he would be there in 10 minutes. It was already 1:00 by the time Steve picked
us up. He had apparently gone all the
way back to Khotso to drop something off and then went all the way back to
Underberg to finish his errands. The
whole thing took forever, but we eventually got home. This is Africa time, everything happens
late. On our way back, it started to
pour. It rained and rained all
afternoon. I tried out a new soup, which
had a lot of Indian spices in it. Ben
and I served the carrot and leek soup with some macaroni and cheese to some
people going on a Lesotho trip, of which one – Kaya Kinkel – was a
vegetarian. They seemed to really enjoy
the warm meal after the damp, cold day.
We retired to our bed, bellies full and warm.
